Here is a easy way to mobilize the content on your site or blog by adding a ‘Send to Phone’ button under any image, video, or music file. A good example of this is how http://www.box.net lets users with music or pictures in their online storage accounts send their content straight to their phones. Using the Myxer API you can send a url to Myxer with a phone number and we will send it to that phone – Cool!

This is a static example but realistically you’d want to script this to dynamically appear next to any content on your site - images, music, or videos.

http://www.myxer.com/magic/?u=http%3A//farm
4.static.flickr.com/3249/2300911576_1eebd26c5a.
jpg&t=Elephant&pn=9545551234&verizon=1

Here is the breakdown of the url example above:

http://www.myxer.com/magic/?

(Trailing ‘/?’ is important)

u=http%3A//farm4.static.flickr.com/32
49/2300911576_1eebd26c5a.jpg

u=url-encoded url of content (required) - This can be the url to a music file, picture, or video.

&t=Elephant

t=display name (required) - This will be used as the display name for the content.

&pn=9545551234

pn=phone number (optional) - Make sure it is url encoded in case they enter spaces.

&verizon=1

verizon=0 for no or 1 for yes (optional) - We need to know if it is Verizon or not. If you don’t have this information, don’t worry about it, we’ll ask for it before we send it.

That’s it, one link and you are set! Let us know how it goes, I can’t wait to see where they’ll start showing up. Have Fun!

-Alex

MyxerMagic™ Web Extensions let you quickly send any image on the web directly to your mobile phone - right from the context menu of your favorite web browser!

Grab photos of friends and family from Flickr, Yahoo!, whatever. Better yet, grab photos of more attractive strangers from other places on the web.

Get the hottest celebrity shots from…wherever you surf! Don’t hold your breath waiting for Bob Marley action shots to make it onto Cingular’s deck.

Want album artwork from your favorite bands? It’s waiting for you at their website or MySpace page.

Or, simply round out your stalker lifestyle by carrying around the MySpace profile picture of that hottie you almost asked out that one time but then, well, after that incident with the rabid poodle…

MyxerMagic is a feature of Myxer, so of course there’s no charge for using it. (This is the internet after all - we make it up on volume.) Just take 30 seconds to install MyxerMagic and start taking your favorite images with you wherever you go.
