Some phones have a maximum size a ringtone can be. The LG VX6000, for example has a max ringtone length of 30 kb.

For Shared ringtones, you can edit the length by following the ‘customize’ or ’shorten’ link on the item page.

For Make Your Own ringtones, our default ringtone is 20 seconds long (or about 70 KB). You can make the ringtone smaller by choosing a shorter segment. Just select the ringtone from your recent ringtone list, change the length, and resend it to your phone.
